Law firm TOTUM became the general partner of the 8th All-Ukrainian tournament on classical judicial debates on Land law.
On April 22-23, 2017, the 8th All-Ukrainian Tournament on Classical Judicial Debates on Land Law was held at the Kyiv Appellate Administrative Court, organized by the Debate Club of the Faculty of Law of Kyiv National Taras Shevchenko University with the support of the general sponsor - TOTUM Law Firm.
The 8th All-Ukrainian Tournament on Classical Judicial Debates on Land Law is the competition between the teams of students of legal specialties on simulation of a simplified court session (without compliance with the due process requirements) on the basis of the provided storyline before the imitation court, which became the largest event at the National level in Ukraine.
The judges of the tournament were the leading scientists, judges and well-known practicing advocates and lawyers, in particular: Anatoliy Myroshnychenko (Doctor of Law, Professor of the Department of Land and Agrarian Law of the Law Faculty at the Taras Shevchenko National University of Ukraine, member of the Supreme Council of Justice); Koloytseva Diana (PhD in Law, Associate Professor of the Department of Land and Agrarian Law of the Law Faculty at the Taras Shevchenko National University of Ukraine); Sarkisova Tamara (Ph.D in Law, Assistant of the Department of Land and Agrarian Law of the Law Faculty at the Taras Shevchenko National University of Ukraine); Roman Sabodash (PhD in Law, Associate Professor of the Civil Law Chair of the Law Faculty at Taras Shevchenko National University of Ukraine); Olexandr Polivods’kyy (partner of LF "Sofia"); Leonid Antonenko (deputy of the Kyiv City Council, chairman of the permanent commission on property issues of the Kyiv City Council); Roman Marusenko (PhD in Law, Associate Professor of the Department of Land and Agrarian Law of the Law Faculty at the Taras Shevchenko National University of Ukraine); Victor Kobyliyansky (advocate, chairman of the Land Law Committee of the AAU); Vita Bondarchuk (PhD in Law, the judge of the Economic Court of Kyiv); Oksana Epel (the judge of the Kyiv Appellate Administrative Court); Iryna Zheltobryukh (the judge of the Kyiv Appellate Administrative Court) and others.
Also, as the judges the following people were involved: managing partner of LF TOTUM Yas’kyv Bohdan, partner of TOTUM Khapko Yuriy, as well as the heads of practices and senior lawyers of TOTUM: Voronyuk Oleksandr, Maksymova Yuliya, Oksyuta Olena, Mykhaylyuk Yana and Chepurnova Iryna.
The participating teams represented powerful law faculties of such national universities as Taras Shevchenko National University, Kyiv National Vadim Getman Economic University, National University "Odessa Law Academy", Donetsk Law Institute of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, National Yaroslav Mudryi Law University, National University of Life and Environmental Sciences of Ukraine, Eastern European University of Economics and Management, University of State Fiscal Service of Ukraine, Institute of International Relations of Kyiv National Taras Shevchenko University, Donetsk National Vasyl’ Stus University.
This year, the subject of the competition was the practical problems of applying land legislation, as well as the practice of the European Court of Human Rights. Two storylines were played: the first one - at the qualifying rounds, the second - at the final rounds in the format of the European Court of Human Rights.
The aim of the 8th All-Ukrainian Tournament on Classical Judicial Debates on Land Law is to promote the development of professional training of law students in the field of Land Law. The rounds of the competition became a reason for students from different universities to present arguments on cases to the leading scientists, judges and practicing lawyers, as well as to receive advice that would be valuable for the future development of prospective lawyers as professionals and leaders in the chosen legal specialization.
